A fragrant, hot bath in the tub is a surefire way to relax and unwind after a hard day. Moreover, it is not a delicacy reserved only for the few. However, the most important thing is to properly care for the bathtub, not only to keep it beautiful as long as possible, but also to get rid of bacteria. We advise on how to clean the bathtub with simple home methods, regardless of what material it is made of.

Before we suggest how to care for a bathtub, it is worth mentioning the difference between the Qualtec composite and the acrylic used for freestanding bathtubs. This information will be especially useful to all those who are still wondering what bathtub to choose? But let's get to the point.

Freestanding bathtub made of conglomerate or acrylic?

When buying a bathtub for the bathroom, we have a choice of many different models made of various materials, two of which are the most popular. One is composite, the other is acrylic. The first one, Qualtec, is a high-quality sanitary composite made of polyester resins. Additionally, the structural component of the composite is glass fiber, which gives the material a high tensile strength, and the polymer surface makes the bathtub perfectly smooth. The undoubted advantage of the Qualtec composite is also its resistance to mechanical damage and easy to keep clean.

Acrylic bathtubs are definitely cheaper than those made of Qualtec composite. They are a product that is considered to be much more hygienic than standard enamel bathtubs, which are not resistant to scrubbing. Remember, however, that acrylic has antibacterial properties because its structure contains silver ions that inhibit the growth of bacteria.

Despite the fact that both acrylic bathtubs and those made of Qualtec composite have antibacterial properties, their care will not pass us by.

How to clean the bathtub?

If you want to clean the bathtub, remember not to use agents containing ammonia, acetone or alcohol for everyday care. First of all, regularity is important. It is best to immediately remove the sediment remaining on the bathtub after each bath. When washing, we should omit abrasive products, i.e. traditional lotions and scouring powders. The same goes for sharp washers.

With systematic care, it is enough to wipe the fittings with a soft cloth soaked in soap or dishwashing agent. If we are sure that hard water prevails in our area, it is also worth drying the bathtub to avoid limescale deposits on its surface. Another effective agent used for cleaning bathroom fittings is also water with vinegar and water with lemon juice.

Cleaning a free-standing bathtub is simple, especially if we take care of it systematically. In the case of deep dirt and scratches, you can use specialist measures, including repair kits. However, remember to carefully read the instructions attached to them before using them.
