In modern interiors, simplicity, functionality and transparency are the priority. Unusual solutions that blur traditional divisions and create new arrangements are becoming more and more popular. An example of such a solution is a bedroom with a free-standing bathtub. It is a space intended for both relaxation and care. Is this solution possible to use in every home? Is it practical and convenient?

Bathtub in the bedroom - fashion or comfort?

A trend that is rapidly gaining popularity is the bathtub in the bedroom. This project is a bold approach to a traditional arrangement and attracts people with its unconventionality, unpredictability and bold approach. It works perfectly in modern interiors, only changing the proportions of the bathroom and bedroom. There is one sanitary item in the bedroom (free-standing bathtub) and the others (toilets, washbasins, etc.) are hidden. The rest of the sanitary equipment (free-standing bathtubs) is visible in the bedroom. However, the remaining elements (toilet, sinks, etc.) are located behind closed doors. This arrangement is conducive to relaxation and does not adversely affect the comfort of the household members.

It should also be remembered that despite its attractive appearance, a bedroom with a bathroom without a bathtub is not the best solution. While it works for a single, it can be problematic in the case of a couple. You have to be aware of the habits and needs of people sharing the same space. If they have the same rhythm of day and night, one will not disturb the other while bathing. This layout of the bedroom can create unnecessary tension and frustration if the rhythm of the day is different. Before making the decision to install a bathroom in your bedroom, consider all the pros and cons.

Only for large spaces - freestanding bathtubs

Designing a bedroom with a bathtub requires a lot of space. Even a small bathtub can take up a lot of space. Additional space is needed for bathtub faucets, nightwear and other accessories.

This does not mean, however, that such a layout is only suitable for large rooms. Not necessarily. You can create a comfortable bedroom with a bathtub in a small space if you rearrange it. It may be enough to remove some walls (e.g. for a separate toilet or dressing room) or to divide the interior in a different way. This should be discussed with the architect to avoid additional costs due to improper wall placement.

Moving or removing the walls will create the illusion of more space. It will also allow a better display of the bathtub, which would not be possible in the case of traditional placement in a small bathroom.

How to decorate a bedroom with a bathtub without a bathtub.

When planning how to decorate a bedroom with a bathtub, there are a few important things to keep in mind.

First, check the ceiling's load-bearing capacity. Freestanding bathtubs can weigh from several dozen to several hundred kilograms, depending on their size and materials. Their weight can double when they are filled with water. Before installing the bath, check that the floor in the bedroom can support its weight. Before starting the assembly, it should be strengthened.

Second, make sure the floor is properly prepared. Before you start building or renovating, you need to decide where the bathtub faucet and bathtub will be. It will be necessary to connect the water system and make the drain with a slope. Thanks to this, the water after the bath will be able to drain freely.

Third, make sure the surface is protected against moisture. The best solution is to cover the area around the bath with ceramic tiles or non-absorbent tiles. This allows the water to be wiped off easily. Part of the nearby wall can be tiled or covered with waterproof paint or wallpaper intended for bathrooms. All wooden elements placed near the bathtub should be protected against moisture (e.g. if you accidentally splash them while leaving the bathtub, they will be protected).

Where should the bathtub be placed in the bedroom?

How to put a bathtub in the bedroom? There are many possibilities.

The free-standing bathtub can also be installed in the bathroom near the bedroom. This will avoid interfering with the plumbing system. The freestanding bathtub can also be placed in the center of the bedroom to become its focal point.

A freestanding bathtub is a good solution for smaller bedrooms. It will not overwhelm the space and will not disturb the decor. The ideal place to install a bathtub in a bedroom, especially if it is floor-to-ceiling, is near a window. Blinds or curtains are a great way to keep a room private and protect it from the prying eyes of your neighbors. Cover the bottom half of the window. Portable screens are a perfect solution in bedrooms with a bathtub. They allow you to be separated from the rest of the room when the need arises.

Be sure to keep the tub away from upholstered furniture and beds. Even small, but persistent
